The postponed tenth edition of SAIL Amsterdam was a special one. The event, which only takes place once every five years and had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, celebrated its fiftieth aniversario in the year that Amsterdam turns 750. A unique edition, and we were there to represent Damen Shipyards.

Four days of Damen hospitality

Shipbuilder Damen had a prominent presence during SAIL . Not only as the builder of the impressive clipper Stad Amsterdam, which led the SAIL-In, but also with four days of hospitality in and around the dry dock at Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam. During this event, the shipbuilder was able to rely on our applications.

Smooth cooperation

We are proud of our pleasant and smooth collaboration with the Damen Shipyards event team. Together with Damen, we ensured that visitor flows were mapped beforehand, on-site, and afterward. Guests were invited by email from a portal managed by the heads of the various divisions. From their personal invitation, they registered using a compact registration form. They easily entered using the QR code they received by email.

Various events

At the entrance, we used different colored wristbands, as there were various events during SAIL 2025: in addition to the festive SAIL-In, Damen also offered boat tours, and last but not least, there were six shifts of 'Dinner by Dock,' a unique culinary experience in the ship's own dry dock.

Overview and guidance

We developed a portal that allowed Damen's sales managers, after internal training, to invite their contacts themselves and manage and remind their guests, including dietary requirements, parking, and boat tours. This allowed the organization to fully focus on the content, even during the event, with a custom-built Excel export file providing continuous overview and guidance.

Absolutely fantastic

¿El resultado?  A clean database thanks to the sales managers' dedication, a fantastic event full of side events that ran smoothly, with a swift check-in. We were there to scan tickets and print wristbands. And with beautiful weather, in a unique location with a truly fantastic view of the bustling IJ River, it was absolutely no problem. If it were up to us, we'd love to be back in five years!
