Van Oord DMC is one of the largest dredging companies in the world. In 2018 our globally operating fellow Rotterdam company celebrated its 150th birthday. This anniversary was celebrated with countless events, for all of which we were asked to take care of the guest registration.
Van Oord took our credo 'The customer is king, if we can be queen', very literally, because since November of the jubilee year, the billion-dollar company can actually call itself 'royal'.
Van Oort organized a symposium and a theme night with our help, but of all events the baptismal ceremonies were the most impressive. No fewer than three ships were christened in the course of 2018: LNG crane vessel Werkendam, fallpipe vessel Bravenes and trailing suction hopper dredger Vox Alexia were added to the Van Oort fleet. The registration process around the last baptism was the most delicado, because ... it was attended by the Queen! Not Princess Alexia christened the ship with her name, but her mother, Queen Máxima. We, of course, gladly took a step back for that.
