11 Beaches Tour

Scanning for a good cause

Every autumn the Hartstichting organizes the 11-Strandentocht (11 Beaches Tour), a performance walk along eleven Dutch seaside resorts. Individual participants and teams run, hike or 'kluun' the entire or part of the tour and are sponsored for this. The proceeds from this recreational walk along the Costa Holandesa is used for research by the Hartstichting (the Heart Fund).

Virtual stamp posts

Because craft stamps are no longer up-to-date, the organization was looking for a more advanced way of registering the runners' crossings. The tried and tested "marathon" method, with sensors, would be too expensive to achieve the highest possible yield.

That is why we came up with an affordable alternative, configured a registration system and supplied the equipment for the digital stamp posts for the past two editions. The 2222 participants had their wristbands scanned there. We published the transit times of the runners on a personal internet page.

Every participant receives an e-ticket with which he can register at his starting point. There he receives a wristband with his personal QR code, which can be scanned at the stations en route. Because the runners cover different distances, we ensure a smooth check-in option at each and every starting location. We supply the scanning stations for the beach tents and we provide 4G internet, and of course we explain to the many volunteers how they should work with the equipment.

For this project we developed an advanced reporting tool that allows the organization to know exactly where a runner is at all times: which stamp posts have already been passed, supplemented with essential personal data. This way the distance traveled is meticulously kept up to date, but the safety of the runners can also be guaranteed. Invitado builds its tailor-made analysis tools to the wishes of the customer. The right data at the right time, that is the power of our tools.
